Message from the Dean Agriculture

It’s my great pleasure to welcome you all at the Agriculture Faculty, Tikapur, Kailali, Far-western University (FWU). The FWU ensures the qualitative agriculture education by adopting the innovative teaching practices with newly developed and advanced course curricula, well-equipped lab structures and qualitative professors of multi-disciplinary nature; need based research with basic infra-structure, and extension of new innovations to the general pupils. The faculty of Agriculture is trying its best to manage the congenial academic environments and searching the collaborating organizations inside the nation and abroad. The agriculture faculty at FWU is planning to form seven functional academic departments in agriculture named: i) Social Sciences (Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Extenstion and Rural Sociology), ii) Agronomy, Plant Breeding and Agricultural Statistics, iii) Horticulture and Agro-forestry, iv) Animal Science and Aquaculture, v) Plant Protection (Entomology and Plant Pathology), vi) Soil Science and Agricultural Engineering, and vii)  Basic Sciences (Bio-chemistry, Crop Physiology and Environmental Sciences). Accordingly the faculty focuses its prompt effort on the permanent recruitment of the multi-disciplinary faculties with highly motivated academic status, research background and extension desires. Preparation of master plan for the construction of academic and research hub, hostel facilities separately for the boys and girls, library, separated farm of Agronomy and seed production, Horticulture and Agro-forestry and Animal Science and Fisheries are being planned and  few of them are executed to run the agriculture program in more effective and harmonious ways.

Moreover, the administration sections resembling general administration, account, examination, library, sports & extra-curricular activities, and dispensary are also planned to include in the master plan. Formation of research and extension cell/ unit with the triangular role of teaching, research and extension will be the major agenda of the faculty at FWU. The initiation of international collaboration on installment of the automated weather station by the China Academy of Science in collaboration with Central Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, TU Kirtipur, launching a memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Geyongsang National University, South Korea and Agriculture Faculty, Tikapur Multiple Campus and a visit by one of the vital founder member of non-residential Nepalese Association, Australia (NRNA- Australia) are the effective actions taken over in past few months. The Agriculture faculty of FWU updates its website on time through the notices and academic activities. The national and international collaborations of Agriculture Faculty at Tikapur in making the quality education as guided by the rules and regulation of FWU will always be welcomed.
